About

In 1982 The Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation was established to assist and improve the facilities of the Great War Memorial Hospital of Perth District.

Through active solicitation and recognition of donations, the Foundation serves as a conduit of community support, linking donors and the general public with the Hospital. This allows the Foundation to financially support the acquisition of medical equipment and the expansion of services and facilities at the GWM Foundation Site of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital.

Since its inception in 1982, thanks to the commitment and generosity of our donors, the GWM Foundation has disbursed more than $10 million to the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital.

The GWM Foundation’s mandate is to:

  1. Conduct fundraising campaigns to obtain contributions from the widest possible sources to support health care provision at the GWM Site of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital
  2. Invest and manage the funds on hand
  3. Provide funds to the Hospital at the request of the Hospital Board of Directors for capital and other specific projects. No donations are directed towards hospital operations or the budget deficit.

The GWM Foundation is responsive to the Hospital Board; The Foundation’s primary obligation is to its donors; it will recognize and respect their wishes and intentions in all instances.
